Course Description

Ethics goes beyond laws and guidelines.

Ethical development requires acknowledgment of relationship. In psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, clients are surrendering to an as-yet unknown transformation, making trust in their practitioner essential. This course provides a self-reflective and self-compassionate approach to Right Relationship, focusing on motivations: those deep, not-always-conscious urges that precede our behaviors with clients. Self-inquiry complements and amplifies the external, behavioral approach of traditional ethics education.

Part I addresses ethical differences in psychedelic contexts, mindfulness precepts for working with clients in profound states, and introduces two ethical awareness tools. Part II goes more deeply into the precepts of self-reflective ethics — exploring Right Relationship through case examples, and introducing two additional practical tools for assessing the therapeutic container and recognizing conflicts of interest.

Teachings are appropriate for healthcare professionals, as well as the general public. Healthcare professionals will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program in ways beneficial to clients or patients.
