Ethics 105 approaches ethics not as a checklist of rules but as a living, relational practice grounded in genuine caring and self-awareness. Drawing on Kylea Taylor’s foundational book, the course examines what it truly means to hold Right Relationship with clients — attending to motivation, power, presence, and the full range of human vulnerability that arises in professional caregiving.

Practitioners explore how ethical caring differs from unconscious need-meeting, how to recognize early signs of ethical drift, and how to use self-reflection as an ongoing professional resource rather than a reactive corrective.

The course gives particular attention to the amplified ethical responsibilities that arise when working with clients in extraordinary, relational, or non-ordinary states of consciousness.

Teachings are appropriate for healthcare professionals, as well as the general public. Healthcare professionals will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program in ways beneficial to clients or patients.

Section IV — Ethical Caregiving in Community: Keys to professional ethical behavior; ethics and dual relationships; building ethical community grounded in authentic caring.

Learning Objectives

Describe the core principles of therapeutic ethics and explain how right relationship functions as a foundation for caring, ethical clinical practice.
Identify common ethical vulnerabilities arising from professional caring, including boundary confusion, misuse of power, and unexamined motivations.

Apply ethical decision-making grounded in self-reflection, relational awareness, and responsibility for client welfare.
